HAND CRAFTED CANDLES MADE FROM LOCALLY RECYCLED BOTTLES

Welcome! My name is Mikyla (pronounced mik-eye-la) and I am the owner and operator of Scottsdale Candle Co. I started out making candles out of my backyard 4 years ago after working in the nightlife industry and seeing all these beautiful bottles getting tossed away. I always wanted to be an entrepreneur and I quickly saw a way to not only help the environment but to tap into my homeschool crafty side and create something magical. Little did I know how far it would take me in four short years.

With only a little bit of administrative and retail management background, I took the leap of faith to create candles full time right off the bat. I built my website myself, created an excel sheet to track sales and failed a few hundred times at creating a well burning candle. I was quickly running low on savings and jumped back into bartending while I continued building my business. Shortly after that I was faced with COVID and all of a sudden I had no job and no candle sales. A few more bumps in the road and I was finally busy enough during Holiday season to keep myself afloat. A year later I was in a warehouse and currently I am opening a Recycling Non Profit to help keep industry glass out of our landfills.

I truly believe in hard work and manifestation. Believing in myself every step of the way and waking up each morning deciding to stay disciplined in my mission. I thank every person who’s been there past and present. I truly believe in creating candles that provide luxury, memories, and sustainability.
